These mallets are crafted by hand in our workshop. They are made from 1/2 inch lightweight aluminum (either .016 or .035 thickness) and powder coated for both looks & durability. The tips are 1/8" black surgical tubing and are cut precisely, leaving a smooth edge that gives a nice ring from the pan. They are also placed on both ends of the mallet to help reduce slipping when your hands get wet and to give double the wear time. The brushing process also gives a nice texture that is visible underneath the transparent red or blue colors.

They are available in lengths of 8" or the more Trinidadian 6 3/4". They are available in 2 different thicknesses as well. The image on the bottom left above gives an example of the difference in thickness between the .035 vs the .016 aluminum. They also come with two different tip types, regular (all-purpose tips), fine (for bringing out the high register notes), and combination (one type of each tip on each end of a mallet).

The playing tips are 3 layers of black surgical tubing and are cut precisely, giving the softer hits and longer contact needed for the lower-range guitar/cello pans. A single layer tip is place on the opposite side to help reduce slipping when your hands get wet and to help prevent clanging when you place your mallets on your pans. The brushing process also gives a nice texture that is visible underneath the transparent red or blue colors. They are available in lengths of 11" or the more Trinidadian 9 3/4".
